NEW ORLEANS, LA (The Spread) – Ed Reed is known for being a big defensive playmaker for the Ravens. Will Reed make the biggest play of Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVII?

View Updated 2013 Super Bowl Odds

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Reed has been given 33/1 odds to be the Super Bowl MVP and to score the first touchdown of the game. Reed also has over/under odds of 4.5 tackles and a money line of +275 to intercept a pass.

Reed dealt with injuries during the season, but still played in 15 regular season games. He had a total of 58 tackles and four interceptions during the season. He averaged 3.8 tackles per game. In three playoff games, Reed has 10 tackles and no interceptions. Throughout the entire season, Reed had just one touchdown, but he has been known to make big plays in his career. For his career, he has 61 interceptions with seven of those returned for touchdowns. He also has two fumble returns for touchdowns. Reed has been pretty quiet in the turnover department for a while. His last interception came in Week 13 against Pittsburgh.

Reed will be looking to contain San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Reed will play a big role on defense in the passing game, but also in containing Kaepernick in the read option. Reed will likely move into the box on a lot of plays and have a chance to get some tackles against the San Francisco rushing attack. Getting an interception will be a challenge for Reed. Kaepernick had just three interceptions in eight starts during the regular season and he has just one INT in the playoffs. Reed’s best chance for an INT will come if the Ravens get up big and force Kaepernick to have to throw often.
