CHICAGO (AP) -Texas Rangers left fielder Jerry Hairston was ejected in the third inning of Wednesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox after arguing with first base umpire James Hoye.
Hairston hit a grounder to third baseman Joe Crede and tried to beat the throw with a headfirst slide but was called out on a close play. After he returned to the dugout, Hairston was ejected by Hoye and then returned to the field and had to be restrained by first base coach Gary Pettis while manager Ron Washington argued.
Matt Kata replaced Hairston in left field.
