UFC on FOX 7 Odds
SAN JOSE, CA (The Spread) – The UFC Lightweight Championship is up for grabs as part of the main event of UFC on FOX 7 this Saturday. Here is a look at the odds for this card.
The UFC on FOX 7 will take place from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California with the main card bouts airing live on FOX at 8PM ET on Saturday.
The main event of Saturday’s event is a clash for the UFC Lightweight Championship as Benson Henderson (18-2) defends his title against Gilbert Melendez (21-2). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Henderson is the favorite to win this fight, as he has a money line of -275 to win, while Melendez has odds of +215 to win. Henderson is defending his title for the third time and he is 6-0 in the UFC. Melendez is the former Strikerforce champion and making his UFC debut. He has won his last seven bouts coming into this contest. Both men are similar fighters as each can control the fight on the feet and on the ground. The key to this bout will be conditioning and technique. It is fair to say that Henderson has fought tougher opponents recently when compared to Melendez.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a heavyweight battle between Frank Mir (16-6) and Daniel Cormier (11-0). According to oddsmakers, Cormier is the clear favorite, as he has odds of -420 to win, while Mir has a money line of +320 to win. Mir is a former UFC heavyweight champion, but is coming off a loss and needs this win to stay in the title picture. Cormier is coming from Strikeforce, where he had just won the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix. Cormier likes to use his wrestling to win fights, but Mir is a tremendous submission fighter off his back.
